The Biggest Painting in the World The city was the first city in Iwate Prefecture to participate in the project and painted a 1m x 5m piece of cloth as part of the 25th anniversary of the Kuji Sister City Conclusion with Klaipeda, Lithuania, on 18 September 2014,

On 15 October 2015, four 1m x 5m pieces of cloth were painted in Kuji City, Franklin, as part of the 55th anniversary of the Kuji City-Franklin Sister City Conclusion and the 100th anniversary of the visit to Japan of Dr Allen, an American Honorary Citizen.

All of these cloths were stitched together.
